Nowadays, it's hard to imagine a smartphone without it — but you can only really use it properly if you have good Internet access. The WiFi4EU project is intended to help create an EU-wide network of public WiFi access. That would mean that you have access to fast and free WiFi even when you're on the go.

Who can participate in WiFi4EU?

The aim is for public places to have a good Internet connection. Examples include libraries, clinics, public offices and even parks. This applies in particular to municipalities that do not yet have fast Internet connections. The one-time registration at a participating hotspot allows the use of all other EU hotspots without further registrations.

The budget of 120 million euros enables the funding of a total of around 6,000-8,000 municipalities. The EU initiative distributes at least 15 funding vouchers worth 15,000 euros per country.

WiFi4eu thus covers the costs of upgrading and installing the WLAN network.

How can you get involved?

Since applications are processed in the order in which they are received, there should be no delay. Registration takes place via an EU Internet portal. Municipalities, public agencies and hotspot providers meet here. Since the planning costs are the only ones not covered, this is an easy way to find the right provider for the project.

Why Socialwave

Socialwave has many years of experience in the area of WiFi hotspots and is therefore able to impress with individual and early advice. In addition, the system provides the WLAN operator with legal certainty, which is still an important aspect.

WiFi4EU also wants to improve the competitiveness of the supported region, for example through offers for tourists. Socialwave can support this with optional marketing features, such as customizable start pages, pop-up windows or automated email campaigns.
