Successful financing for Socialwave: Munich-based startup receives high six-figure investment amount
Berlin/ Munich, March 17, 2016 — The Munich-based start-up company Socialwave (wifi.socialwave.de), a provider of professional hotspot solutions in retail, hotels and restaurants, receives new financing. The business angel club “Angel Gate” of Swiss Club Deal AG with its members and other financiers are investing a high six-figure sum in total. Socialwave was founded in 2013 under the umbrella of Company Builder etventure and now has more than 1,000 companies among its customers, including franchises from Rewe and Edeka, Segafredo and the Enchilada Group (dean & david).
Club Deal AG's investors include Christian Legros, who has already structured several well-known companies as lead investor, as well as other renowned business angels such as Dr. Cornelius Börsch, founder and managing director of the globally active venture builder “Mountain Partners”, Matthias Hunecke, founder of Brille24.de and Thomas Bank, co-founder and managing director of various startups, who will also provide operational support to Socialwave with key account sales activities in the future. etventure in the person of founder and managing director Philipp Depiereux is also among the investors.
“We are very pleased that we were able to convince such well-known investors of our business idea. Thanks to the support of our financiers, we not only have fresh capital at our disposal, but also a wealth of entrepreneurial experience,” explains Mario Schilling, founder and managing director of Socialwave, and adds: “With the help of the financing, we want to expand our offline analytics offering and continuously grow as a company. ”
With the help of Socialwave's hotspot solution, retailers and restaurateurs can provide their customers with free WiFi. Logging in to the hotspot via email address or via Facebook simultaneously offers retailers digital access to customers and the option of involving them for viral marketing. In addition, thanks to the unique identification of the WLAN user, the provider is protected from legal consequences.
The new Socialwave investor Christian Legros is also impressed by the business model: “The innovative Socialwave concept and the young and creative start-up team impressed me. The majority of customers now expect free network access — whether for daily shopping or in restaurants. Yet retailers and restaurants still too rarely meet the wishes of their customers. With Socialwave, retailers can satisfy this need and simultaneously use the data obtained for marketing and analysis purposes. ”
In the future, social wave analysis technology is to be further developed so that retailers and restaurants gain deeper insights into their customers. In this way, advertising and marketing activities can also be tailored more precisely to the respective customer. In particular, the offline analytics offering is being further expanded through an add-on for the hotspot WLAN routers. Because by recording even customers who are not logged in anonymously, detailed visitor statistics, such as the length of stay, the return rate or the customer's position in the store, can be created for the point of sale.
Philipp Depiereux, founder and managing director of etventure, explains: “As a company builder and digital consultant, we are intensively involved in the digital transformation of numerous sectors of the economy. From our observation, we see that retailers, like other industries, are still finding it difficult to take advantage of the opportunities offered by digitization. Socialwave's business model not only offers customers added value, but also provides stationary retailers with analysis options that have previously been reserved for e-commerce, and at the same time opens up a digital communication channel with customers. ”
