Between March 14 and 18, the annual CeBIT takes place at the exhibition center in Hanover, celebrating its 30th anniversary. Since 1886, information technology companies have been exhibiting their products at the world's largest trade fair for IT.
In recent years, CeBIT operators have been trying to strengthen B2B communication at the trade fair. As a result, a visit to the trade fair is only possible for company representatives. The doors will therefore remain closed for independent visitors this year as well. This is particularly welcomed by exhibitors, who sense good advertising opportunities due to the high density of company representatives. In 2015, almost 3,300 exhibitors from 70 countries were represented at CeBIT. The trade fair was visited by a total of 210,000 guests.
This year, the partner country of CeBIT is Switzerland. According to CeBIT, this is a leader in the use of digital technology. The trends in 2016 are primarily in the areas of big data, i.e. the processing of large amounts of data, and clouds, which involve making new systems available anywhere and anytime. The topic of mobile and its users is also in focus. Network security solutions, which are becoming increasingly important due to the rapid expansion of offerings on the Internet, are being exhibited contiguously.
As was the case last year, the current hot topic at CeBIT is digitization in the economic environment. The motto “d! conomy (a mix of words from Digital& Economy): join- create- suceed”, describes the ever-increasing relevance of digital transformation. In this context, particular attention is paid to the increasing opportunities of start-ups in the IT sector. Through creative ideas and modern know-how, start-ups develop innovative software that paves the way for the successful future of digital transformation.
