Time reading time

It's that time again: Halloween is just around the corner! For years, the American tradition has also been attracting more and more fans in Germany. Children and young people in particular, but also many adults, celebrate the scary event. Like any holiday, Halloween is perfect for marketing purposes. Whether it's a restaurant, retail or gym, we'll give you tips on which campaigns are right for your industry. Even if you're not a big fan yourself, you should use good marketing on Halloween to get more customers and increase your sales.

1) Halloween activities

Take Halloween as an occasion for a discount campaign, for example. For retailers, promotions such as 20% on sweets would be appropriate. Because on Halloween, the disguised children move around the houses and ring the doorbells to ask for sweets. Sweets are therefore needed a lot and you can stand out from the competition with a related discount campaign. You can also organise a competition. This doesn't have to be sweets; for example, you can also raffle off vouchers suitable for your industry.

In addition, restaurateurs can advertise special Halloween menus that revolve around pumpkins, for example. The same applies to bakeries - how about pumpkin pie or spookily designed muffins? Even gyms have the opportunity to promote a special Halloween workout. Actions like these strengthen the positive relationship with your customers, as they now connect specific events to your company. In addition, a bit of variety never hurts — offer your customers something new from time to time.

2) Festive spooky decoration

In addition to tempting promotions, you can draw the attention of potential customers to your company through unusual window and interior decorations. In the USA, Halloween enthusiasm goes so far that private individuals lavishly redecorate their entire house and turn it into a scary cabinet. Of course, you don't have to go that far, even though it would certainly generate a great deal of attention. It is also enough to distribute artificial spider webs, set up carved pumpkins and skeletons. Look for a more dark and orange color palette, which is associated with Halloween.

3) Online marketing

Use the Internet to draw attention to your company! Halloween is the perfect opportunity to send messages in which you wish your customers happy creeps and are therefore positively remembered. You can also use the actions mentioned above on your social media apply to disseminate them. Post creepy or funny pictures on Facebook, Instagram, etc., to get likes.

If you decorate your shop offbeat enough or, for example, serve food in a themed way, your customers will post pictures of it on Facebook or Instagram all by themselves — which means free advertising for you.

Many large companies with a high marketing budget make fun of scary promotional videos, but they stick very well in the customer's mind and thus strengthen the brand. Here are the best 15 examples of good Halloween promotional videos.
